About Therapy with Me

Here’s a cliché. Getting started in therapy is hard.
Having a random stranger ask you very personal questions seems scary. Therefore, when you come to therapy with me (whether in person or virtually), I want to show you that I’m a human, just like you.
I’m never going to be perfect, just as you won’t. You don’t need to be perfect to feel healed in life, have all the answers to be content, or have control over every aspect to feel safe. While we work together, we can find the specific details that will help you reach safety, contentment, healing, and happiness.
Sometimes, you might want a direct path in your healing journey; other times, you may require a sounding board or a safe place to have tough conversations or admit things out loud.
Clients often ask about therapy homework, so I answer: It depends. Sometimes, it is helpful, but I’m not going to force it. While there are times when we need a little push (hence the name Positive Push Therapy), I’m here to meet you where you are.

Today’s society is a contradiction.
Therapy is much more widely sought and discussed, yet many still feel stigmatized by it. I work with people from diverse backgrounds, including various ages, socioeconomic statuses, races, genders, and more.
My goal is to help you feel comfortable choosing this for yourself. Through therapy, I’ve seen clients find themselves, find their voice, set boundaries, and gain healing and understanding that they’ve never experienced before.
We all have trauma, and it doesn’t matter how big or small you deem yours to be; it’s worth working through it.
About Lauren Saldana, LCSW

Here’s the second cliché from me: I love to help people.
That’s why I’m here. I always wanted to help – to be a teacher as a child and then a dentist. A therapist may differ in modalities, but remains in a helping role.
As a psychology major in college, I knew I needed to move on to the next level to put my passions to use. I chose to become a licensed clinical social worker due to the versatility. I met several LCSWs in various fields, and the prospect of that was exciting.
Helping others has helped me become a stronger person.
I’ve worked in an inpatient/outpatient hospital-based psychiatric facility before, specializing in eating disorders, a non-profit for family violence, with children in a school setting, and in private practice.
Private practice is beautiful because it’s YOUR choice to be here!
In my personal time…
I love to nap, spend time with my husband, boys, and fluffy dog child, travel (particularly to beaches), hang out with friends, eat Mexican food, and go on wine trips. And did I mention nap?
